Solution:

As given , g(x)= f(x) + k --------(1)

As also given : f(x) = \frac{1}{3}(x+2)

g(x) =  \frac{1}{3}(x+5)

Putting the value of f(x) and g(x) in equation (1).

→ \frac{1}{3}(x+5) = \frac{1}{3}(x+2) + k

→ \frac{1}{3}[x+5-x-2]= k

→ k = \frac{1}{3} \times 3=1

So , the value of k is 1.

adoni [48]

Answer:

It would be option 2.

Step-by-step explanation:

This is because option 1 does not have a irrational number that goes on indefinitely, option three has the square root of 25, which equals 5 meaning it is rational, and the last option also gives us rational choices. Therefore, the only possibility is that it would be option 2.

Use the quadratic formula to solve x^2 -3x - 5 = 0. Round to two decimal places.
Evgen [1.6K]

Answer:

\mathrm{The\:solutions\:to\:the\:quadratic\:equation\:are:}

x=\frac{3+\sqrt{29}}{2},\:x=\frac{3-\sqrt{29}}{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the equation

x^2\:-3x\:-\:5\:=\:0

solving with the quadratic formula

\mathrm{For\:a\:quadratic\:equation\:of\:the\:form\:}ax^2+bx+c=0\mathrm{\:the\:solutions\:are\:}

x_{1,\:2}=\frac{-b\pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}

\mathrm{For\:}\quad a=1,\:b=-3,\:c=-5

x_{1,\:2}=\frac{-\left(-3\right)\pm \sqrt{\left(-3\right)^2-4\cdot \:1\cdot \left(-5\right)}}{2\cdot \:1}

x_{1,\:2}=\frac{-\left(-3\right)\pm \sqrt{29}}{2\cdot \:1}

separating the solutions

x_1=\frac{-\left(-3\right)+\sqrt{29}}{2\cdot \:1},\:x_2=\frac{-\left(-3\right)-\sqrt{29}}{2\cdot \:1}

solving

x=\frac{-\left(-3\right)+\sqrt{29}}{2\cdot \:\:1}

  =\frac{3+\sqrt{29}}{2\cdot \:1}

  =\frac{3+\sqrt{29}}{2}

also solving

\:x=\frac{-\left(-3\right)-\sqrt{29}}{2\cdot \:\:1}

  =\frac{3-\sqrt{29}}{2\cdot \:1}

  =\frac{3-\sqrt{29}}{2}

\mathrm{The\:solutions\:to\:the\:quadratic\:equation\:are:}

x=\frac{3+\sqrt{29}}{2},\:x=\frac{3-\sqrt{29}}{2}

6. Monique is making an ottoman for her living room. She covers the top of the ottoman with fabric. How much surface would she n
pantera1 [17]
I believe she would need to stain 548 inches of the surface.

Excluding the top and bottom, you are left with two panels that are 10 by 7.4, and two panels that are10 by 20, so

10•7.4= 74•2 =148
10•20= 200•2 =400
148 + 400= 548

Please correct me if I am wrong, have a good day!
