When two events are dependent, this means that one event cannot occur without the other, or simply put the two events are connected to each other in one way or the other.

When two events are independent, this means that the two events can occur separately, with one event having no effect on the occurrence of the other.

Therefore the dependent and independent events are as follows:

Independent event:

c. rolling a die twice

The outcome of the first die does not affect the outcome of the second die, hence independent.

Dependent event:

d. drawing one card from a standard deck, not replacing it, and then selecting another card

By the act of not replacing the drawn card, we are changing the probability of selecting another card, hence dependent.

The path of a race will be drawn on a coordinate grid like the one shown below. The starting point of the race will be at (−5.4,
k0ka [10]

There are 4 quadrants in a coordinate plane

 • The starting point is in the second quadrant, while the finishing point is in the fourth quadrant.
 • The starting point is a reflection of the checkpoint across the y-axis

Part A

The points are given as:

Start = (-5.4,3)

Finish = (3,-5.4)

For the starting point, the x-coordinate is negative, while the y-coordinate is positive.

This implies that the starting point is in the second quadrant

For the finishing point, the x-coordinate is positive, while the y-coordinate is negative.

This implies that the finishing point is in the fourth quadrant

Part B

The checking point is given as:

Checking = (5.4,3)

The starting point is given as:

Start = (-5.4,3)

Notice that the y-coordinate of both points are the same, but the x-coordinates are negated.

This means that the starting point is a reflection of the checkpoint across the y-axis, and vice versa

Compare the fractions using - 4/9 and -8/20
laiz [17]

Answer:

-2/45

Step-by-step explanation:

-4/9 is simplified and both 4 and 9 are perfect squares.

-8/20 can be reduced to -2/5 since both 8 and 20 are divisible by 4.

The difference between them is given by -4/9 - (-2/5) = (18-20)/45 = -2/45.
