Answer:

Some of the optical effects of the atmosphere includes the halos, pillar and the sun dogs all occur due to the Electromagnetic spectrum of the visible light of coming form the sun.

Explanation:

 • The Sun dogs are a colored spots of the light that develop due to the refraction properties of light due to the ice crystals. The colors go from the red to the blue on the outside of the sun dog.
 • The Sun Pillars appear as a straight line of light that elongated vertically above the sun, most often at the sunrise or the sundown, and the cirrus clouds are present.
 • The moon dog is a relative bright halo type spot that is formed by the moon by the refraction of the light and are rare.

On the Earth, how does plate velocity vary with distance from the pole of rotation?
Mnenie [13.5K]

Answer:

Yes, the length of plate widening started from the poles and extends towards the other poles

Explanation:

 • As the aspects of spherical geometry, the relative plate motion is affected by the rotation of the earth on its axis and not all are located at the geographic poles. As an example of mid-oceanic ridges that have a spreading value of 37-40 mm/year in southern Atlantic.
 • Hene rotation of the poles can be determined by the accuracy an orientation of the mid-Atlantic ridges. Another example is of the African plate is moving to the east and the northern plate is moving to the west as template rotation is anticlockwise and paleomagnetism pole is and evident to this phenomenon.
 • Spreading and splitting of the supercontinent like Pangaea created a major displacement in the orient rock and thus led by the rotation of the earth, this phenomenon also called the Euler pole and rotation angle based on the earth's orbit around the sun.

The Law of Superposition places the youngest rock on top of older rock, except when what two rock formations are present?
Nookie1986 [14]

Answer:

The Law of Superposition places the youngest rock on top of older rock, except when faults and igneous rock are present (option 1).

Explanation:

The law of superposition of strata -proposed by Nicolás Steno based on the observations of Avicenna- states that the rock strata observed in the earth's crust are the product of the deposit of rocks progressively over time, leaving the newest rocks in the surface and the oldest in lower strata.

In successive studies and observations made by Steno, this scientist could appreciate the existence of some exceptions to his principle of superposition:

 • The presence of geological faults could cause an alteration in the arrangement of the layers, different from the order they should have.
 • Magma activity is a factor that would lead to the deposit of igneous rocks between the layers of already formed rocks.

The Law of Superposition is, in geology, the basis on which the discipline of sedimentary stratigraphy is based.
