On Sunday, Sheldon bought 4 1/2 kg of plant food. He used 1 2/3 kg on his strawberry plants and used 1/4 kg for his tomato plant
VladimirAG [237]

Answer:

a) 2\frac{7}{12} kg of plant food did Sheldon have left.

b) She need is \frac{43}{12} kg and she don't have enough to left.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : On Sunday, Sheldon bought 4\frac{1}{2} kg of plant food. He used 1\frac{2}{3} kg on his strawberry plants and used \frac{1}{4} kg for his tomato plants.

To find :

a) How many kilograms of plant food did Sheldon have left? Write one or more equations to show how you reached your answer.

Solution :

Sheldon bought plant food 4\frac{1}{2}=\frac{9}{2} kg.

He used strawberry plants 1\frac{2}{3}=\frac{5}{3} kg.

He used tomato plants \frac{1}{4} kg

Kilograms of plant food did Sheldon have left is given by,

L=\frac{9}{2}-(\frac{5}{3}+\frac{1}{4})

L=\frac{9}{2}-\frac{23}{12}

L=\frac{54-23}{12}

L=\frac{31}{12}

L=2\frac{7}{12}

Therefore, 2\frac{7}{12} kg of plant food did Sheldon have left.

b) Sheldon wants to feed his strawberry plants 2 more times and his tomato plants one more time. He will use the same amounts of plant food as before. How much plant food will he need? Does he have enough left to do so?

Solution :

Sheldon wants to feed his strawberry plants 2 more times.

i.e. Strawberry plants used is 2(\frac{5}{3})=\frac{10}{3} kg.

His tomato plants one more time i.e. \frac{1}{4} kg.

Total plant she need is \frac{10}{3}+\frac{1}{4}=\frac{43}{12}

As \frac{31}{12}

No she don't have enough to left.

Determine if the lines are parallel, perpendicular, or neither 10x+5y=-5 and y=-2x+6
Ksenya-84 [330]
If they are parallel they will have the same slope , m

So in y = mx + c, if there are two equations which both have the same m value they will be parallel.
If the lines are perpendicular they'll have slopes like this: 1/2 to -2/1 - where they flip and a negative gets added.

In the equations: 10x + 5y = -5 , and y = -2x + 6
We can rearrange 10x + 5y = -5 to be in the form y = mx + c
10x + 5y = -5
5y = -5 - 10x
y = -1 - 2x
y = -2x - 1

Since y = -2x - 1 and y = -2x + 6 both have the same slope of -2 they are parallel!

Answer:

A) answer c ; B) X+3.7=15.3 ; C) 15.3 - 3.7 = 11.6 ---> 11.6+3.7=15.3

Step-by-step explanation:

Solution for A: First you have to look for the line underneath the bar says 15.3 as this will represent the total amount of liters in the bucket altogether. This would be bar c since we also know that we have 3.7 liters added but are missing the amount that was previously inside the bucket.

Solution for B: Let X resemble the unknown amount of water. To solve B, we need to write an equation. We know that there was already an amount of water in the bucket prior to us pouring more in so X is our first addend. We then added 3.7 liters of water to the unknown amount so that is our next addend giving you X+3.7=15.3

Solution for C: Now that we know our equation, we do the inverse operation (subtraction) in order to figure out the missing amount of water. This means we do

15.3 - 3.7 = 11.6
