Based on the story The Gift of Magi, it can be inferred that Jim is poor but a loving husband. He is the breadwinner of the family but his earnings are not enough for their daily expenses. The only thing that keeps him going every day is his love for his wife, Della. One day, he sells his gold watch to buy Della a nice comb, however, he is shocked when he finds out Della has no use of the comb anymore.

I was absent in class today. Can somebody please explain how to diagram a sentence? Maybe an example too?
olganol [36]

Answer:

A Jigsaw Puzzle of Words

You may have heard of diagramming sentences and thought it sounded like some kind of medieval device designed by English teachers to torture poor, unsuspecting English students. The surprising fact is, diagramming sentences is not torturous. It can actually be kind of fun, and it can certainly help you have a better idea of what to do with your own writing to make it suitable for papers written for those torturous English teachers!

Diagramming is like putting together a puzzle where the words of the sentence are the pieces. There is a place for every word on the diagram, and just like a puzzle, each word only fits correctly in its own place. Each part of speech has a specific place on the diagram.

lbvjy [14]

What this excerpt from Act I, Scene I, of "Romeo and Juliet", by William Shakespeare, reveals about the Montague-Capulet feud is The servants of both households use the feud as an excuse to pick fights with each other. In this first act the servants from both houses, try to find excuses to fight each other.

The two purposes that this soliloquy from Act I, Scene I, of "Richard III", serves in the opening scene are, It depicts the motivations and personality of the character and it gives some background information about the plot. Richard describes himself as deformed and ugly and to entertain himself in times of peace he is going to try to take control of the court.
