If you’re talking about the book The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket our best case it takes place in the early 19th century given fact of old cars and buildings. Where the story took place is unknown as in town since Snicket never disclosed the name of town just by referring it as “a dirty and busy” place. In the story they take place in Count Olaf’s house, Briny Beach, Mr.Poe’s home, Justice Strauss’ house, and a theatre.
