The European city that was covered in ash by the volcano that erupted in 79CE was Pompeii.

<u>EXPLANATION:</u>

Pompeii was an ancient Roman city in Italy. The Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 CE that covered the entire Pompeii city with the ash. Later the survey team found out about the city.

Due to the heavy volcano eruption the entire city was drown several feet under the ash and the rocky materials from the volcano.
