In Linnaeus's book Systema Naturae, minerals were originally included while classifying living things. But, minerals were later

The answer is: New interpretations are a part of science.

This characteristic is evident in this situation because earlier on, Linnaeus had pieces of evidence that minerals do not really fall under the classification of living things. He was at the forefront of taxonomy and classifications. His futher studies and research led him to a scientific conclusion that Minerals should be given a separate category because of the different physical attributes and properties it presents.
