Macbeth is completely obsessed with the idea of being king, and this leads him to commit villainous acts. Of these, perhaps the most intense one is the fact that Macbeth kills the king in Act II, scene 2. This act is even more poignant due to the fact that Macbeth kills the king in his sleep, giving him no chance of defending himself. Moreover, he tries to frame the guards who were also sleeping.
