bile. Gallstones are one of the most common causes of blocked bile ducts. Blocked bile ducts may also result from infection, cancer or internal scar tissue. Scarring can block the bile ducts, which can lead to liver failure. Based on the passage above, describe how blocked bile ducts would adversely affect digestion. Bile is an important part of the body that is secreted by the liver to help the body digest fats. The bile ducts carry bile from the liver and gallbladder towards the pancreas and towards the duodenum, which is a part of the small intestine.<span>
