When you're in the process of pre-writing an argumentative essay, the third step you would take is <u>forming a claim</u>.

Step 1. You would review all of your evidence researched on the subject.

Step2. Then divide the main points into evidence against your argument or with.

Step 3. Write a thesis statement (or a claim) identifying the issue of your essay.
