In a direct democracy all citizens meet together and make decisions via a vote. In a representative democracy citizens elect leaders who make decisions on their behalf. A republic who is ruled by a official is a form of democracy.

In a representative democracy, the lawmakers are being polled by the citizens of the nation while in a direct democracy citizens pools for the implementation of the law instead of having a political representative.

Further Explanations:

Direct democracy is the form of management involving the resident of the realm while implementing and law framing processes. The concept refutes that few should not rule many and the representatives in the legislative bodies are not liable to get the paid. All the official verdicts of the nation are taken with the approval of the resident of the nation. One such example of direct democracy was seen in ancient Athenian society where women, foreigners, and slaves were not granted voting rights.

Representative democracy or indirect democracy is the type of democracy based on the ideologies of an elected official’s representative. In this system the eligible individuals of the realm polls for the implementation of the law as we can take the example of “United States” where the president and the other member of the congress are being elected by the citizens of the nation. Even the local and state officials are being elected by the inhabitants.

From what I know of the book, it was a critical success but did not resonate with the public the way Sinclair wanted it to. The government took notice and tried to better regulate the meat industry. Working people, however, were not drawn to it the way had hoped.
