Tabitha is trying to find the equation of a line perpendicular to y = 1/2 x - 5 in slope-intercept form that passes through the

point (2, -7) which of the following equations will she use
Y - (-7) = 1/2 (x - 2)

Y - 2 = 1/2 (x - (-7))

Y - (-7) = -2(x - 2))

Y - 2 = -2(x - (-7)

To be perpendicular, the slopes must be negative reciprocals of one another, mathematically:

m1*m2=-1  our reference line has a slope of 1/2 so our perpendicular line must have a slope of:

m/2=-1

m=-2

The slope-intercept form of a line is y=mx+b so we have so far:

y=-2x+b, using point (2,-7) we can solve for b

-7=-2(2)+b

-7=-4+b

-3=b so our perpendicular line is:

y=-2x-3

If you MEANT what is the perpendicular line is POINT-SLOPE form then we know the slope is -2 and the point is (2,-7)...

POINT-SLOPE form is:

y-y1=m(x-x1), where m=slope and (x1,y1) is any point on the line then:

y--7=-2(x-2)  (that would be the third one down in your choices)

...

"slope-intercept" form is:  y=mx+b

"point-slope" form is:  y-y1=m(x-x1)

"standard" from is:  ax+by=c

If the point (4,-2) is included in a direct variation relationship, which point also belongs in this direct variation? A. (-4,2)
IceJOKER [234]

Answer:

(-4,2) belongs in this direct variation.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the direct variation relationship is expressed by the equation y = mx ........ (1), where x and y are in direct variation and k is the variation constant.

Now, the point (4,-2) is included in the direct variation relationship, then from equation (1) we get, -2 = 4m

⇒ m =  - \frac{1}{2}

Therefore, the equation (1) becomes y = - \frac{1}{2}x

⇒ x + 2y = 0 ......... (2)

Now, from the given four options only the point (-4,2) satisfies the relation (2).

Hence, (-4,2) belongs in this direct variation. (Answer)

Svana wants to solve the equation x - 1.0675 = 3x - 4145.
AysviL [449]

Answer: D

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that Svana wants to solve the equation 1/2x - 1.0675 = 3x - 4145.

This equation is a system of equations which can be solved by using simultaneous equation methods.

But if she uses a graphing program to graph the equations y = 1/2x - 1.0675 and y = 3x - 4.145

The solution of 1/2x - 1.0675 = 3x - 4.145. Will be the point of intersection of the two equation.

Trace the point of intersection to the x - axis and also to the y - axis.

The solution to the system of equations is ( 1.231, - 0.452 )

Select all figures with 180 degree rotational symmetry.
Rzqust [24]

Answer: b, c and e.

Step-by-step explanation:

180° degree symmetry will mean that if we do a rotation of 180°, the figure will look exactly the same.

Now, let's suppose we have a figure with an odd number of sides.

We can draw that figure such that we have a side pointing down, and a vertex pointing up.

Now when we do a 180° rotation, the side will be pointing up and the vertex will be pointing down.

Then if the figure has an odd number of sides, it does not have a 180° rotational symmetry.

Now if the figure has an even number of sides, then we can do the same as above, but now we can put two parallel sides, one facing down and the other facing up, and when we do the rotation, we will end with the same image.

Then the correct options are the ones with an even number of sides:

b, c and e.
