Select the correct answer. Lyra and Donna are testing the two-way radios they built for their high school science project. Lyra

goes to the top of a building that is 22 meters high with one of the radios and stands directly above the building’s entrance. Donna walks out of the entrance, perpendicular to the building, with the other radio. If Donna is more than 50 meters from the entrance, the connection between the radios breaks. What is the range of communication for the two radios to the nearest meter? A. 50 meters B. 55 meters C. 62 meters D. 72 meters

Answer:

yra is 22 meters above the entrance.

The radios work until Donna is 50 meters away from the entrance.

At that moment, Lyra, Donna, and the entrance form a right triangle.

The hypotenuse is the actual distance between Lyra and Donna.

          Distance  =  √ (22² + 50²)

                        =   √ (484 m² + 2,500 m²)

                        =    √ (2984 m²)

                        =        54.63 meters.

Rounded to the nearest meter,    Distance = 55 meters.

THAT's the maximum point-to-point range of the radios

You could use warm feelings as a substitute. It doesn't directly mean in love, and can be used in a friendly way.

Abstract

Johnson disliked Swift but had an intense self-implicating interest in him, sharing much of his social, psychological and devotional outlook, and exhibiting a wide and life-long reading of his works. He found Swift's irony, and satire in general, unsympathetic, but wrote in a manner deeply shaped by Swift and other Augustan satirists. His relationship with Hester Thrale included a self-conscious and often conflicted awareness of Swift's friendship with Stella. His novel Rasselas shares with Swift's 'Digression on Madness' a strikingly similar diagnosis of humanity's mental constitution, but draws teasingly opposite and sometimes adversarial consequences from it. Johnson's antipathies coexist with a reluctant sense of likeness, a combination implicit in the forthrightly evasive and wayward judgments of the 'Life of Swift', from which the main examples are drawn. Their nevertheless compelling power (like that of F. R. Leavis's very different but equally
