Why are the Himalayas still growing
Alecsey [184]
Himalayas continue to rise more than 1 cm per year growth rate 10 km in a million years

Scientists believe that the Eurasian Plate may now be stretching out rather than thrusting up, and such stretching would result in some subsidence due to gravity.

At present, the movement of India continues to put enormous pressure on the Asian continent, and Tibet in turn presses on the landmass to the north that is hemming it in. The net effect of plate-tectonics forces acting on this geologically complicated region is to squeeze parts of Asia eastward toward the Pacific Ocean. One serious consequence of these processes is a deadly "domino" effect: tremendous stresses build up within the Earth's crust, which are relieved periodically by earthquakes along the numerous faults that scar the landscape. Some of the world's most destructive earthquakes in history are related to continuing tectonic processes that began some 50 million years ago when the Indian and Eurasian continents first met.

How has the global economy changed since the end of World War II?
stepan [7]

Answer:

The answer is broad and complex if we look at the entire world economy but I'll try to be as brief as possible for your convenience.

Explanation:

The United States experienced phenomenal economic growth. The war brought the return of prosperity, and in the postwar period the United States consolidated its position as the world's richest country. Gross national product, a measure of all goods and services produced in the United States, jumped from about $200 thousand-million in 1940 to $300 thousand-million in 1950 to more than $500 thousand-million in 1960. More and more Americans now considered themselves part of the middle class.

Looking at the Europe, the division of Eastern Communist bloc and the western European democracy bloc thwarted the economic expansion to a certain degree and the Communist economies were struggling to keep up with the growing demands of their populations.

Moreover, the international trade flourished and many international organizations that would aid the commerce and economic development originated. such as the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and the World Trade Organization.

By now, the economic significance and the up rise in Asian economies can be too.

In what two ways did World War I affect the women in the United States?
saul85 [17]
I know one way was that the country's two major political parties supported suffragists (women who fought for the right to vote) after the war. Women helped during the war, by becoming nurses and helping the troops. Others joined the workforce and took over jobs usually men did often working for the same wages as men. This lead to a change in public opinion on women's voting rights-and soon the 19th Amendment was passed and it allowed women to vote.
