A primary source. That would be a source coming directly from someone who was in the war so you know it is reliable and probably the most accurate. A secondary source could be from a journalist or an outside mind that doesn't know the true experience of being in the war and is just observing from an outsiders view.

This issue was first highlighted in 1793 by Nicolas de Condorcet,where noted that in a single stage election the influence of a single voter reduces as the number of voters increase.

The paradox of voting further highlights that the expected results/outcome of a voter from an electioneering process is less than what the initial expectations.
