Describe the plot of “By the Waters of Babylon” by using the drop-down menus to complete the statements.
Evgesh-ka [11]

"By the Waters of Babylon" is a short story written by Stephen Vincent Benet and it was published in 1937. This story is about an post-apocalyptic world in which a man, John, struggles to find the "Place of the Gods", following the beliefs and customs of his people, the hill people. John, and his people, believe that dead people are truly gods. Many are the adventures faced by this character as he undertakes what his father used to believe was a spiritual pathway, but that in truth was a journey to find the forbidden place.

1. This story is about a young character, John, who must face the destroyed industrial world and the difficulties of C: a post apocalyptic environment.

2. The rising action, which is the events that lead to the climax in a story, are a series of conflicts that the narrator, John, faces when he: C: travels to the Place of the Gods, which was John´s true goal.

3. The climax of the story, which is the highest point of the action, where all the attention if going to focus as the central issue, is when John realizes that in truth, those whom he and his people believed were gods, were in truth humans who were once overcome by their own sense of power. Correct answer here then is B: the gods were people.

4. The resolution of the story, the point at which all conflicts are resolved and explained, occurs when John returns to his people, the Hill People and, convinced by his father, that telling people the truth might be harmful, decides to state that : B: they must rebuild society slowly and carefully.

Yuki888 [10]
There are a few bad effects, depending on the pesticide, it could cause anyone who eats the crop to get severally ill. That in turn would cause a recall. That could then be bad for the farmer that sprayed the pesticide, as it  could get him into legal trouble.

(a) Analyze Reread lines 208-212 of Beowulf. Identify the syntactic device used. (b) Interpret What qualities does the syntax ad
Ira Lisetskai [31]

The tone of the narrative changes from being against Beowulf to accepting him at this point in lines 208–212.

What is syntactic device?
A tool that can manipulate values, such as a computer or jeejah, is referred to as a syndev (syndev for short). Compare it to a semantic device, such as the human brain, which has the ability to manipulate values while also connecting them to more abstract concepts. If one views Gödel's [Completeness Theorem] as the tie that binds mathematics and computing science—which may be viewed as sister sciences—together, then the term "Syntactic Device" and its dualism with the concept of Semantic Device may have their roots in this dualism. In this context, computing science represents the syntactic aspect and mathematics the semantic aspect.

The reader learns that even when violence is used against a blatantly evil opponent, it still causes suffering and summons vengeance when the poem switches to Grendel's point of view during his battle with Beowulf.
