1. The body’s cells require oxygen for cellular respiration. They must also rid themselves of carbon dioxide, a waste product. H

ow does this explain the change in breathing rate? 2. The cardiovascular system moves blood around the body. Blood carries oxygen to cells and removes carbon dioxide from them. How does this explain the change in heart rate? 3. What are some of the ways your body regulates body temperature during strenuous activity? 4. How did your body respond after you stopped exercising? a. What does this response tell you about your body’s ability to maintain homeostasis? Use data from each of the 5 parameters to support your answer. 5. Research the physiology of common cold and fever. Predict the effect of common cold and fever on the five parameters.

Explanation:

1. Usually a change in breathing rate occurs when the body is undergoing an increase in body activity such as when one running or exercising. At such a point of running, for example, the body increases the levels of oxygen for the increased cellular respiration.

2. Using the same example of someone who is running, at such point, medical professionals believe that the heart which is part of the cardiovascular system begins to increase the frequency at which blood is circulated around the body. Thus, resulting in a change in heart rate (or change in the number of pumps per sec).

3.  The following are a few ways:

  • increase in sweat glands functions which brings out water from tiny holes in our skin to cool us off.
  • increase in heart rate; pumping more blood into the body which helps in regulating body the temperature.

4. After you stopped exercising usually this occurs:

  • the pumping rate of the heart reduces
  • increase in muscle and body strength

This almost instant response tells us that our body has an automated ability to maintain internal body temperature (homeostasis).

How does modern evolutionary theory differ from Darwin’s theory proposed in the 19th century?
HACTEHA [7]
The theory of evolution by natural selection, first formulated in Darwin's book "On the Origin of Species" in 1859, is the process by which organisms change over time as a result of changes in heritable physical or behavioral traits

which processes make energy for human cellular respiration, lactic acid fermentation, alcoholic fermentation, ATP, and photosynt
leonid [27]

Oxidative Phosphorylation is the metabolic process needed to provide energy for the cell. It is the final stage in the process of cellular respiration, where acetyl CoA produce energy precursors that leads to the phosphorylation of ADP, producing adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and in return provide energy. Moreover, when the body lacks oxygen, fermentation happens. During glycolysis, only two ATP molecules are produce and the pyruvate is reduce to NADH forming lactate. Meanwhile, in alcoholic fermentation pyruvate is converted to ethanol, releasing CO2. Lastly, the co-enzyme that is involved in photosynthesis is NADP+ where extra phosphate group is attached.

Compare and contrast the TWO classes of "seeded "plants.
atroni [7]

Answer:

The seed plants are often divided arbitrarily into two groups: the gymnosperms and the angiosperms. The basis for this distinction is that angiosperms produce flowers, while the gymnosperms do not.

Explanation:

The seed plants are often divided arbitrarily into two groups: the gymnosperms and the angiosperms. The basis for this distinction is that angiosperms produce flowers, while the gymnosperms do not. This is poor form, since it defines the gymnosperms by the absence of a character, and not by any features that the organisms actually share. The gymnosperms do share a number of features, but, as should be obvious from the above cladogram, they are not more closely related to each other than to the angiosperms (Anthophyta). The features shared by gymnosperms were likely present in the early ancestors of the flowering plants as well. It should also be noted that the "progymnosperms" are represented by a box of a different color, in order to make it clear that they are not actually seed plants, but rather are included here because they are believed to be the closest relatives of the seed plants.

Systematics within the seed plants is poorly understood. Part of the problem is that most of the major groups have gone extinct, and several of the groups alive today consist primarily of plants with highly derived morphologies. The above cladogram is based largely on the work of Jim Doyle, a professor at UC Davis, and Michael Donoghue, currently at Harvard, and is therefore somewhat preliminary. It includes some questionable groupings not explicitly supported in their papers.
