During the second world war, President Roosevelt was encouraged by the federal officials for the internment of Americans of Japanese ancestry. The executive order 9066 gave military powers to ban any citizen from the West coast area which stretched from Washington to California. It also allowed transporting these citizens to assembly centers in California Arizona, Washington, and Oregon. The same executive order was applied to the Americans of Italian and German Descent.
