To find second side of park we can use formula for area of rectangle.
ITs
A=a*b
Where A is area and a ,b area sides of it/
We can convert our area
A=a*b  /:a      divide both sides by a (its no matter which side we assume to be 83)
\frac{A}{b} =a
Now we can substitute to our formula.
a= \frac{6889}{83}=6889:83=83 - its second side and its our answer.

The length of the deck is  (5 + 2x) .
The width of the deck is   (4 + 2x) .

If the deck didn't have that big hole in the middle where the pool is,
then its area would be

                 (5 + 2x) · (4 + 2x) .

When you multiply that all out, you get    Area = 4x² + 18x + 20

and the question tells us that the area of the whole big rectangle is 90 yds² .
So we can write

                                             4x² + 18x + 20  =  90 .

Subtract 90 from each side:    4x² + 18x - 70  =  0
Divide each side by 2 :           2x² + 9x - 35  =  0

You can use the quadratic equation to solve that and find out that
x = 2.5 yards, and that's what the question is asking you.
___________________________________________________

That makes the deck  10 yds high and 9 yds wide.

Total area of the whole big rectangle, (deck + pool ),  =  90 yds².

Alex tried to find the lateral area of the pyramid. FIND HIS ERROR AND CORRECT IT.
sweet-ann [11.9K]

Answer:

His error is multiplying by 4 sides as he thought it was total surface not lateral surface area- the final answer is 12

Step-by-step explanation:

He should have multiplied it by 3, because the 3 sides- not including the base- is what lateral surface area is. He originally did total surface area not lateral surface area so each sides area is 4m squared then you just multiply it by 3 and its 12

A board is 24 ft. long and is cut into two parts. If one piece is twice the length of the other, find he length of both pieces.
topjm [15]
2x + x = 24

so x = 24/3 = 8 ft. (smaller length)

2x = 16 ft. (larger length)
