What are three possible explanations why Shakespeare left Stratford-upon-Avon and headed for London?
Alja [10]
The years when Shakespeare left Stratford for London are not very well known, but here are some possible reasons why he might have made the move!

1. An obvious reason for Shakespeare to move would be that there was a ton more theatre in London than Stratford. There were some acting troupes that made it out there, but if Shakespeare really wanted to be an actor and a playwright he needed to be in the big city.

2. Another crazy reason that we have a little proof on is that Shakespeare illegally poached a deer off of Sir Thomas Lucy's land. He then moved to London so that he could escape the punishment for that crime.

3. A possible reason that Shakespeare might have left is because of sickness in Stratford. We know that it spread at least to his son who died years after he moved to England, but it could have been a possibility that there was sickness in the town already that Shakespeare wanted to get away from.
