How does phloem differ from xylem?
ipn [44]
Well the main purpose of xylem is to transfer sap from the roots to the leaves and phloem typically transports sugars from leaves to sink tissue. Xylem only travels up from the roots but phloem can have either travel up or down. The outside cells of xylem are dead and the the cells that make up phloem are the sieve elements, which are supported by companion cells.

Compare and contrast cell communication by nerve signal with cell communication by ion-linked channel receptors... please help f
hoa [83]
Nerve cells communicate by sending an electrical signal through an axon, from this molecules get released into the synapse this then binds itself onto receptor sites. With ion-linked channel receptors, the ligands get binded to a protein. The ion channels are then opened and the proccess gets repeated. Does that help?
