Scenario: Tom, Joe and Andrea are all running for class president, and they are giving speeches to the class to convince people

to vote for them. Tom is making faces behind the other two while they speak, trying to distract the audience. Joe stands with his shoulders slumped and wrings his hands while speaking to the audience. Andrea has great eye contact and smiles while she is speaking. Which candidate would you vote for and why? I would vote for Andrea because she is being confident in her speech. She is keeping eye contact and smiling, which makes me believe she is excited to be a class president and would do a good job.
Joe seems nervous and not very confident in himself, and Tom isn't respectful of the other candidate's speeches.

Andrea because she is the most focused. Tom is acting either immature which is not a good quality in a leader. Whilst Joe is not confident and is acting shy which is also not a good quality for a leader.

Answer:

Over the next few days, the church bells toll continually for the dead, as August makes way to September. The Ogilvie family, along with other affluent families, flees from the city as the fever spreads. Business at the coffeehouse almost completely vanishes. One day Mattie and her grandfather walk into another part of town and stop by a printer's shop. They learn that the College of Physicians has printed handbills advising several strategies for avoiding the fever, and that the city has decided to stop ringing church bells when people die. The almshouse has been shut down to prevent contagion, hundreds of people have died of the fever, and the rich families and the politicians have fled the city. After visiting the print shop Mattie and her grandfather return home where, just outside of the coffeehouse, they see a man wheeling a body.

gregori [183]

The poem "A Thousand Martys" was written by Aphra Behn. Some of the themes presented are love, desire and betrayal from the point of view of a promiscuous and libertine character. It has three stanzas and each one of them is used in the following way:

The first stanza is used by the speaker to state how a "thousand martyrs" were made from a "thousand beauties," for desire purposes only.

On the second one, the reader is shown how the speaker deceived the thousand lovers by making them believe he/she was in pain. The feelings shown were always false, as only "Love's pleasures" mattered.

The third and final stanza is more introspective, and while the speaker "despises the fools that whine for love," he also implies that he has no joy and roves (wanders without direction).
