The battle of Wounded knee was a domiciliary massacre of numerous Lakota Indians by the soldiers of the United States.that occurred on 29th December 1890. The massacre occurred near the wounded Knee Creek in the US states of South Dhoka in an attempt to demilitarize the Lakota camp in which most women and children got killed. On 29th December The US cavalry went into the camp to demilitarize the Lakota and in the verge of disarming a deaf man named Black Coyote denied to gave his rifle saying that he had paid for it and threw it near an old man performing rituals called Balck ghost. At the very next time, the Us troops started firing and when the firing stopped around 300 men, children and women were already shot dead. The Lakota warrior also fought back and in the massacre, 25 soldiers died and thirty-nine got wounded.
The Wounded Knee battlefield has been declared as a National Historic Landmark by the US Department of Interior and a resolution is being passed by the Congress expressing regret for the massacre.
