If two lines intersect to form a linear pair of congruent angles, then the lines are perpendicular. If two sides of two adjacent angles are perpendicular, then the angles are complementary.

If there is a line and a point not on the line, then there is exactly one line through the point perpendicular to the given line.

I don't understand these problems
uysha [10]
So given the values on the number line, AB and BC, adding them together will get the length of AC. If AB equals x-3 and BC equals 5, the value of AC should be x-3+5. Since you are given the length of AC, 21, you can create an equation to solve for x. This equation would be x-3+5=21. Isolating the x on the left (or right hand side) gets the value of x to be 19. The same thing goes for the 2nd question.

Determine the larger of two consecutive integers whose sum add to 85
Vesnalui [34]
N+(n+1) = 85. 2n+1=85, 2n=84. n=42. So the consecutive integers are 42 and 43, and the larger one is 43.

The sum of an infinite geometric series is 1,280, while the first term of the series is 160. What is the common ratio of the ser
Arlecino [84]
The sum is 160/(1-r)=1280 where r is the common ratio,
1/(1-r)=1280/160=8
Inverting we get 1-r=1/8, r=7/8.

What is the value of the rational expression below when x is equal to 4? x-12/x-8
Firlakuza [10]

Answer:

When x=4 we get the value of the given expression is

\frac{x-12}{x-8}=2

Step-by-step explanation:

Given rational expression is \frac{x-12}{x-8}

To find the value of the given rational expression \frac{x-12}{x-8}

when x is equal to 4 :

That is the value of the given rational expression \frac{x-12}{x-8}

when x=4 :

\frac{x-12}{x-8}

Put x=4 in the above rational expression we get

\frac{4-12}{4-8}

=\frac{-8}{-4}

=\frac{8}{4}

=2

Therefore  when x=4 we get the value of the given expression is

\frac{x-12}{x-8}=2
