Characters and conflict are two absolutely necessary elements of a storyline. A story has many different components that are extremely important. However, these two are essential if we want the story to make sense. Characters refer to the people, figures or animals that drive the story forward. These take the actions that the story describes. Conflict refers to the main problem or struggle that the characters face in the story.
