The creation of the cotton gin actually lead to the continuation and dependence on the institution of slavery. Steamboats are not seen as the end of the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution was a long ongoing process that started in America in the late 1700s and continued into the 1900s. The crops pictured are cotton. Rice would be pictured in rice patties and tobacco looks very different from what is pictured.
