Answer:

Factors (3y -1) ( y + 10 ).

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :  3y² + 29y − 10.

To find : Fill  (________ − 1)( _________ + 10)

Solution : We have given

3y² + 29y − 10.

On factoring

3y² + 30y - y − 10.

Taking common 3y form first two terms and -1 from last two terms.

3y ( y + 10 ) -1( y + 10 ) .

On grouping

(3y -1) ( y + 10 ).

Therefore, Factors (3y -1) ( y + 10 ).

Quadratic trinomial can be represent as product
ax² + bx + c =a(x<span> - </span>x1)(x<span> - </span>x2), where x1 and x2 are roots of quadratic equation ax² + bx + c=0,
so to solve this problem we need to find roots of
3y²+29y-10=0

y=(-b+/-√(b²-4ac))/2a
y=(-29+/-√(29²-4*3*(-10)))/(2*3)
y=(-29+/-√(961)/(6)
y=(-29+/-31/(6)
y1=-60/6=-10
y2=2/6=1/3

3(y-1/3)(y+10)=(3y-1)(y+10)
check:   (3y-1)(y+10)=3y²-y+30y-10=3y²+29y-10

Can I have some help to Work out 'x'
leonid [27]

Answer:

19

Step-by-step explanation:

(6x+11) + (3x-2) = 180

6x + 11 +3x - 2 = 180

6x + 3x + 11 - 2  =180

9x+9=180

9x=180-9

x=171/9

x=19

The stopping distance d of a car after the brakes are applied varies directly as the square of the speed r. If a car travelling
bonufazy [111]

Answer:

It will approximately take 138.89 feet for the car to stop when travelling at 50 mph.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the following in the question:

"The stopping distance d of a car after the brakes are applied varies directly as the square of the speed r"

Thus, we can write:

d\propto r^2

Removing sign of proportionality and adding constant of proportionality, we get,

d = kr^2

When d = 200, r = 60

Putting values, we get,

200 = k(60)^2\\\\k = \dfrac{200}{3600} = \dfrac{1}{18}

Thus, we can write the relation:

d = \dfrac{r^2}{18}

We have to evaluate the stopping distance, d when speed is 50 mph.

Putting r = 50 in the equation, we get,

d = \dfrac{(50)^2}{18} \approx 138.89

Thus, it will approximately take 138.89 feet for the car to stop when travelling at 50 mph.
