Why does a human red blood cell lyse when placed in a hypotonic solution while a plant cell does not?
Len [333]
A human red blood cell has a cell membrane which bursts when it is put in a hypotonic solution and a plant cell has a cell wall, which protects the cell membrane from bursting, which gives the cell membrane support and keeps the water inside of water inside of the cell. The plant cell has a cell wall, and animal cell doesn't have any support.
I hope this helps :)
