Because Confucianism was an ethical social, and belief of political system,
as opposed to a religion, it wasvery compatible with other religions. In
other words, a person could, for example, practice both Buddhism and
Confucianism simultaneously, this flexibility enabled Confucianism to
flourish. Government leaders, too embraced it, because it was intended
to create an orderly society. Chinese culture in which communities
became extremely tight-knit; members had duties and responsibilities to
many others in the community from birth to death.
Confucius traveled throughout China, teaching and discussing its ideas. Confucius held many jobs in various governments. In the hundreds of years after Confucius's death, his students collected his teachings and wrote them down in a book that came to be known as the Analects of Confucius. His students traveled throughout China as teachers, government officials, and court advisors. Chinese merchants carried Confucianism along the Silk Road. After the invention of paper, Confucious's teachings spread even more. Buddha traveled and taught his ideas to all who would listen. Vuddha's students traveled and spread his teachings. Asoka became a Buddhist and sent Buddhist missionariers to spread the religion to China, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia.
