Although Ginkgo biloba and other species of the genus were once widespread throughout the world, its range shrank until by two million years ago, it was restricted to a small area of China. For centuries, it was thought to be extinct in the wild, but is now known to grow in at least two small areas in Zhejiang province in eastern China, in the Tianmushan Reserve. However, recent studies indicate high genetic uniformity among ginkgo trees from these areas, arguing against a natural origin of these populations and suggesting the ginkgo trees in these areas may have been planted and preserved by Chinese monks over a period of about 1,000 years This study demonstrates a greater genetic diversity in Southwestern China populations, supporting glacial refugia in mountains surrounding eastern Tibetan Plateau, where several old-growth candidates for wild populations have been reported.[59][60] Whether native ginkgo populations still exist has not been demonstrated unequivocally, but evidence grows favouring these Southwestern populations as wild, from genetic data but also from history of those territories, with bigger Ginkgo biloba trees being older than surrounding human settlements

astra-53 [7]

The clear fluid found in whole blood in which the cells are suspended is called plasma however, when the clotting factors are removed, it is now called serum.

Plasma is the frequently forgotten part of blood. White blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets are essential to body characteristics. However, plasma also plays a key function. This fluid consists of the blood components during the frame.

The serum consists of all proteins not utilized in blood clotting; all electrolytes, antibodies, antigens, hormones; and any exogenous substances (e.g., capsules or microorganisms).

Serum does now not incorporate white blood cells (leukocytes), red blood cells (erythrocytes), platelets, or clotting elements.

Explain how prokaryotes can reproduce sexually and asexually. In this discussion be sure to explain how the genetic material fr
Alexxx [7]

Answer:

During the asexual reproduction, bacteria can divide simply by binary fission in which one bacteria first replicate its genetic material and the cell divide in two daughter cells which are identical to the parent cell.

Asexual reproduction does not allow genetic variation therefore to get genetic variation bacteria can use conjugation, transformation and transduction process.

In conjugation, bacteria gets extra genetic material from other bacteria through sex pills. In transduction the genetic material enters into the bacterial cell through the virus then bacteria incorporate this genetic material in its genome.

In transformation, bacteria takes up the extra genetic material from it's surrounding. Therefore conjugation, transduction, and transformation helps bacterial to gain variation like as in sexual reproduction.

Action potentials in the heart spread from cell to cell through
Leni [432]

Answer:

Gap junctions within the intercalated disks

Explanation: Gap junctions within the intercalated disks allow impulses to be propagated from one cardiac muscle cell to another. It allows sodium, potassium, and calcium ions to flow between adjacent cells, propagating the action potential, and ensuring coordinated contractions.
