Bonjour
The problem for you here is that "je recommande que" <u>must</u> be followed by the subjunctive tense.
For a lot of verbs, the subjunctive present tense is close to the indicative present tense , but for the verb "prendre" for example, it does change .....
As you haven't learned it yet, I suggest you use "elle peut" or "elle doit" which have to be followed by an infintive ...
Je recommande qu'elle se repose ► CORRECT
but it is subjunctive present tense.........
indicative présent
Elle doit se reposer.
-
<em>"se" has to agree with the subject of the verb. </em>
<em>Se reposer (infinitive)</em>
Je me repose
tu te reposes
il/elle/ on se repose
nous nous reposons
vous vous reposez
ils/elles se reposent
-
Je recommande qu'elle mange des bananes, du pain et prenne des médicaments.
<em>OR </em> qu'elles mangent..... et prennent
<em>here is the problem for U... after "je recommande q</em><u><em>ue</em></u><em>, you must use the subjunctive tense.</em>
<em>I suggest to keep the indicative tense and use 'Elle dot" (she must") OR "she can" (elle peut)</em>
Elle doit manger des bananes, du pain et prendre des médicaments.
<em>manger et prendre are infinitive because they are following another verb "doit". </em>
-
Elle peut prendre sa température et<em> (prendre) </em>des médicaments pour le mal de tête.
you don't have to say twice "prendre"
*REMEMBER : when two verbs are following, the 2nd one is infinitive. In this sentence, if you write twice "prendre", it will both times comes after "elle peut" so, it will be twice infinitive...
<em>-</em>
<u>*As in English, when a verb follows another one, it stays infinitive</u>
<em>I want to play = je veux jouer</em>
<em>She hopes to go to the cinema= elle espère aller au cinéma</em>
<em>We are going to eat (near future) = nous allons manger</em>
<em>ils doivent partir = they must leave.</em>
<em>...</em>
Verbs also stay infinitive after a préposition as "de"..
so yo can use this grammar constuction to avoid the subjunctive.
instead of a conjunctive phrase which sometimes needs the subjunctive tense, you can us an infinitive phrase...
Je lui recommande de se reposer, de manger des bananes et du pain, de prendre des médicaments pour le mal de tête, de prendre sa température.
a lot of "prendre" in the same sentence .....►
Je lui recommande de se reposer et de manger des bananes et du pain. Je luis conseille aussi de prendre sa température et des médicament pour le mal de tête.
je lui recommande <em>(je recommande à elle)</em> I recommand her
je lui conseille (je conseille à elle) = I advise her
hope this helps<em> ☺☺☺</em>
