So solve for q

first factor q out of the summationq \sum^{\inf}_{k=2} (\frac{2}{3})^k=8

now, determine what the summation is
\sum^{\inf}_{k=2} (\frac{2}{3})^k =?

its been a while since ive done summations so i dont remember any tricks but that summation is essentially equal to
\frac{2}{3} ^2 +\frac{2}{3}^3+\frac{2}{3}^4+\frac{2}{3}^5+...

or factored to be something like this
\frac{2}{3}^2 *(1+\frac{2}{3}+\frac{2}{3}^2+\frac{2}{3}^3+...)
which i believe there's a formula for

regardless using a calculator, the summation turns out to be 4/3 i think

you should definitely double check this step

so replacing the summation for 4/3, the equation is now
q*(4/3) =8

pretty easy to solve from here
divide 4/3 to both sides to get q

(15 -3) ÷ 4 ⋅ 7 - 4² ÷ 4 = ?<br><br> Im struggling with pemdas! With this question especially!
Doss [256]

So here's PEMDAS:

Parenthesis

Exponents

Multiplication

Division

Addition

Subtraction

So we will complete this equation in that order. So first is solving the problem within the <u>parenthesis:</u>

<em>(12)</em> ÷ 4  · 7 - 4² ÷ 4 =?

Then we solve all the parts including an <u>exponent:</u>

12 ÷ 4 · 7 - <em>16</em> ÷ 4 = ?

Next, we solve the parts with<u> multiplication: </u>

12 ÷ <em>28</em> - 16 ÷ 4 = ?

Then, we solve for all the <u>division:</u>

<em>0.43</em> - <em>4</em> = ?

If there was any addition we would do that next, but because there is none, we move onto<u> subtraction:</u>

0.43 - 4 = -3.57

So, your <u>answer</u> is -3.57

Four students were discussing how to find the unit rate for a proportional relationship. Which method is valid?
Marina CMI [18]

Answer:

Look at the graph of the relationship. Find the y-value of the point that corresponds to x = 1. That value is the unit rate.

Step-by-step explanation:

The unit rate is the change in y for a 1-unit change in x. Since the graph of a proportion will go through the origin, it is appropriate to look at the y-value for x = 1 (one unit from the origin).

___

The ratio of units up to units to the right is also the unit rate when the fraction is reduced to lowest terms. It is a "unit" rate when the denominator of the fraction is 1 unit.
