What kind of work did Julia child do before taking up cooking? (Movie, Julie and Julia)
grin007 [14]

Answer:

Julia Child was born Julia Carolyn McWilliams in 1912, in Pasadena, California, the daughter of John McWilliams, Jr., a Princeton University graduate and prominent land manager, and his wife, the former Julia Carolyn ("Caro") Weston, a paper-company heiress whose father, Byron Curtis Weston, served as lieutenant governor of Massachusetts. Child was the eldest of three, followed by a brother, John McWilliams III, and sister, Dorothy Cousins.

In high school, Child was sent to the Katherine Branson School in Ross, California, which was at the time a boarding school.[2] At six feet, two inches (1.88 m) tall, Child played tennis, golf, and basketball as a youth and continued to play sports while attending Smith College, from which she graduated in 1934 with a major in history.[1][3]

Child grew up with a cook who served her family. She did not observe or learn how to cook from the family's cook. Child did not learn to cook until she met her would-be husband, Paul, who grew up in a family very interested in food.[4]

Following her graduation from college, Child moved to New York City, where she worked as a copywriter for the advertising department of W. & J. Sloane.

Can someone help me summarise every chapter of 'The sign of four' it's due Friday the 16th
vampirchik [111]
Chapter 1
We open the novel with Watson recollecting Sherlock giving himself a shot of a 7% cocaine solution.
Between morphine and cocaine, Watson believes that Holmes is beginning to throw his life away.
Holmes explains that even though the physical side effects are taxing, the shot of cocaine allows his mind to remain clear and focused.
Watson and Holmes reminisce about their previous case and how Holmes is "the only unofficial consulting detective" in town.
Watson tells Holmes of the chroniciling of the events in his memoir "A Study in Scarlet."
Holmes describes a case in which he assisted another detective, Francois Le Villard, who is currently the top French detective.
Holmes mentions three qualities necessary to be a great detective: deduction, observation, and a desire to seek knowledge.
Holmes describes to Watson his monagraphs which are like "how to" plans for the common detective.  Currently he has written monagraphs regarding cigar ash and footsteps.
Sherlock takes Watsons older brother's watch, and tells Watson everything he can tell about the owner of the watch, and it's history.
Watson is offended by Sherlock's response.  Holmes tells him of his brother and his drinking problem.  Holmes then informs of how he deduces these facts.
What does Holmes tell Watson when he asks this?
The land-lady comes with a letter from a lady named Mary Morstan.
