Francois Toussaint Louverture was a former Haitian slave who successfully led slave revolt.

Explanation:

Francois Toussaint Louverture fought strongly to end slavery and to gain Haiti's independence European powers, France and Spain. This revolt inspired millions of free as well as enslaved people of African descent to seek equality and freedom.

These revolts later inspired French Revolution of 1789 which represents an enlightened concept of human rights, universal citizenship and participation in formation of government.

Due to this revolt Haiti became the only country where slave freedom was taken by force, making it the only successful slave revolt in modern times.
