We pigged out last night. How do I make this a formal sentence?

I would think you'd say something along the lines of "We ate more than enough food last night."   Or "Last night we ate abundant amounts of food."

Pigged means stuffed. 

Make this a formal sentence like so: 

We ate too much last night.
