Given that the problem does not specify if y is <span>opposite, adjacent or hypotenuse side, I will provide two solutions to this problem.

Case 1. Y is the hypotenuse side. (See figure 1)

According to the Pythagorean Theorem, for a right triangle, it is true that:

</span>c^{2}=a^{2}+b^{2}
<span>
being c the hypotenuse side and a and b the opposite and adjacent side respectively. So, for the figure 1 it is true that:
</span><span>
z = a = 15cm
x = b = 9cm
y = c = ?

</span>y^{2}=9^{2}+15^{2}=306
∴ y=\sqrt{306}=17.492cm

Case 2. Y is the opposite side (The same happens as if it were the adjacent side). (See figure 2)

From the equation:

c^{2}=a^{2}+b^{2}

For the figure:

y = a = ?
x = b = 9cm
z = c = 15cm

We need to isolate a, so:

a^{2}=c^{2}-b^{2}

a^{2}=15^{2}-9^{2}=144

∴ y=a=\sqrt{144}=12cm

We just count squares.  Those two half-squares will add to one whole square.  So this is a 3x4 rectangle plus a triangle of area 2.

Find the length of the leg, please help, will give brainliest
iren2701 [21]

Answer:

7\sqrt{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that the missing angle is 45 degrees and the hypotenuse is 14.

If both side angles equal to 45, according to base angle theorem, this triangle is isosceles.

Since this triangle is isosceles, the two legs must be equal. Let x be the legs.

According to the 45 45 90 triangle theorem, the hypotenuse is equal to \sqrt2*x

If 14 = \sqrt{2}*x

\frac{14}{\sqrt{2} } = x

Rationalize denominator

x = \frac{14}{\sqrt{2} } * \frac{\sqrt{2} }{\sqrt{2} }  = \frac{14\sqrt{2} }{2} = 7\sqrt{2}

The answer is 7\sqrt{2}

Hope this helps :)

Solve the equation. <br><br> 2x+4+8x=24
Rasek [7]

2x + 4 + 8x = 24

2x + 8x = 24 - 4

10x = 20

x = 20 ÷ 10

x = 2
