The American Board of Forensic Entomologists or ABFE is an organization in the U.S. that offers certifications to Forensic Entomologists. On the other hand, Forensic Entomology is a field related to both criminology and biology that focuses on studying insects in relation to crime scenes or decomposition. Considering Entomology is the study of insects while Forensic science focuses on criminal investigation. For example, through Forensic Entomology it is possible to determine when a person died based on the presence of insects. According to this, the American Board of Forensic Entomologists certifies scientists who study insects in the criminal context.
