Find the degree of the polynomial 9x^3 y6 + 2.5xy + x^2 .
Kitty [74]
The degree of the polynomial is 9 ( not determined by the first number)
The degree of a polynomial is the highest exponent.
Here the highest exponent is 6 but since y is not a term on its own, you add the exponent of the term together.

Answer:

The weight of large box = 13.75 kilograms

the weight of small box = 6.5 kilograms

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

delivery of 2 large boxes and 3 small boxes has a total weight of 47 kilograms

delivery of 6 large boxes and 5 small boxes has a total weight of 115 kilograms.

Let x be the weight of large box

and y be the weight of small box

Make equation from the given information

2(weight of large box) + 3(weight of small box) = 47

2x + 3y = 47 -----------> equation 1

Do the same and make one more equation

6x + 5y = 115-----------> equation 2

Now we solve both equation using elimination method

Multiply the first equation by 3

6x + 9y = 141

6x + 5y = 115  (subtract both equations)

----------------------------------------------------

      4y = 26

divide both sides by 4

So y= 6.5

Now plug in 6.5 for y  and find out x

2x+3y = 47

2x + 3(6.5) = 47

2x + 19.5 = 47  (subtract 19.5 on both sides)

2x = 27.5

divide both sides by 2

x = 13.75

The weight of large box = 13.75 kilograms

the weight of small box = 6.5 kilograms
