Hi there! The solutions are (-2, 21) and (3, 14)

a. The x-coordinate is given, x = - 2
Filling in this value gives us the following:

y + 7 * - 2 = 7
y - 14 = 7
Now add 14 to both sides
y = 21

Hence, (-2, 21)

b. The x-coordinate is given, x = 3
Filling in this value gives us the following:

y + 7 * 3 = 7
y + 21 = 7
Now subtract 21 from both sides
y = -14

Hence, (3, 14)

Marianna [84]

1st Number = A

2nd Number = B

3rd number = C

4th number = D

5th number = E

A=B²  ( first number is the square of the 2nd number)
B+C=10 ( Sum of 2nd and 3rd = 10)
C=10-B  = B=10-C  (10-(10-B) equals B (2nd Number)
D=B+1 (4th number = 2nd number + 1)
E=14-C (5th number minus 3rd number = 14)

Add them together to equal 30
B²+B+(10-B)+(B+1)+(4+B)=30
B²+B+10-B+B+1+4+B=30
B²+B+10+1+4+B=30
B²+2B+15=30
B²+2B-15=0

B²+5B-3B-15=0
(B²+5B)-(3B-15)=0
B(B+5)-3(B+5)=0
B-3=0 or B+5=0
B=3

The second number (B) = 3

1st number is 3² = 9
2nd number is B = 3
3rd number is 10-B = 7
4th number is B+1 = 4
5th number is 14-third number = 7

9 + 3 +7 +4 + 7 = 30
