A man with red hair (recessive) marries a woman with black hair (dominant) whose mother had red hair. what are the chances that
Oduvanchick [21]
Because the mother had red her it means the woman is heterozygous and the man is homozygous recessive so there is a 50% chance of having a child with red hair and a 50% chance of having a child with black hair.

Your first cousin died of tay-sachs disease (autosomal recessive, incidence 0.09%). you are not affected, nor is anyone else in
AlexFokin [52]
25%

Starting from my First cousin family, I know for sure that the Uncle is is a carrier (Aa) and he must have married a wife who is also a carrier (Aa) and that is how they got an affected son. Thus, this leads to the fact that either both of my grandparents are carriers (Aa x Aa) or only one of them is a carrier (Aa x AA). As a result, the chances that my mom (who is related to the uncle who has a defected child) is a carrier is either (2/3 or 1/2) depending if my grandparents genotype, respectively. Thus, if my mom chances of being a carrier is 1/2 then my chance of being a carrier is 1/4. (given that my dad is not a carrier b/c CF is a rare disease) However, if my mom chance of being a carrier is 2/3 then my chance of being a carrier is (2/3)x(1/2)=(1/3) As a result, I could either be 1/4 or 1/3. But since the answer only provide the choice of 1/4 and not 1/3. This leave 25% is the correct answer.

The digestive and excretory systems
hammer [34]

THE EXCRETORY SYSTEM

Answer: The attachment shows the nephron which is the functional unit of the kidney.

It does the work of urine formation through 3 distinct processes.

-Ultra filtration( Small molecules are forced out of the selectively permeable membrane of the glomerulus into the Bowman's capsule under regulated pressure.these molecules are from the blood in the glomerulus brought in by the afferent arteriole.

- Selective reabsorption ( Useful molecule and iron such as glucose and sodium are reabsorbed back into the blood as the filtrate flows through the tubule(nephron)

-Tubular Secretion. ( Movement of molecules not filtered by the glomerulus during the initial stage of filtration back into the filtrate through the renal capillaries.

Stella's urine sample shows the presence of large protein (ULTRAFILTRATION)

John's blood test report indicates a high toxin level ( ULTRAFILTRATION AND TUBULAR SECRETION)

Miguel's blood test shows an increase in metabolic waste( ULTRAFILTRATION AND TUBULAR SECRETION)

Janice's urine report shows the presence of vital materials ( SELECTIVE REABSORPTION).
