3. Which of the following reflect reasons for America's interest in the Panama Canal?
Rom4ik [11]

"To facilitate the faster movement of naval ships from the Atlantic to the Pacific" reflect one of the reasons for America's interest in the Panama Canal.

Answer: Option E

Explanation:

Panama Canal is an artificial or man-made waterway of 82 km located in transcontinental country in Central America and South America named as "Panama". France was the very first nation to start work on the canal in 1881 but after some engineering issues they eliminated themselves from the project.

In 1901 the United States leaded the project which finally resulted into inaugural ceremony of the panama canal on 15th August, 1914.The bypass, one of the largest and most complex engineering projects ever undertaken, significantly reduced the time for ships to pass between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Therefore it allowed them to avoid the long, risky Cape Horn path around the southernmost tip of South America via the Drake Passage or Magellan Strait.

What is meant by the EA of a reaction? How do enzymes affect the EA and the DG of a reaction?
zepelin [54]

Answer:

Activation energy may be defined as the minimum amount of the energy required to convert the substrate into the product. The higher the activation energy of a reaction, the slower the speed of a reaction.

The enzymes decreases the activation energy of the reaction and increases the effective collision between the substrate. The enzymes does not change the DG (delta G) or free energy of the reaction. The enzymes maintain the equilibrium of the reaction by increasing the equal amount of the forward and backward rate of the reaction.

The Ebola virus enters a human through the openings in the body or through the skin itself. Once inside, the virus attaches to a
agasfer [191]

Answer: How does the Ebola virus infect people?

Ebola virus contains a type of genetic material called RNA, which is similar to DNA and contains the blueprint for assembling new virus particles. Unlike animals and plants, which also use DNA as a repository of information, viruses are not technically alive because they are incapable of replicating without help. In order to create new viruses, the virus must infiltrate a living cell, where it hijacks the host cell’s machinery to fulfill its own goals. In order to get into the cell, Ebola must travel through the cell membrane, which is a barrier that protects the cell from its environment. However, all cells need nutrients, which must have ways of entering the cell; the viruses hitch a ride into the cell via one of these established nutrient-uptake entryways. Ebola virus takes advantage of a non-specific engulfing process called macropinocytosis, which allows the virus to be “eaten” by a wave-like motion of the cell membrane (Figure 1) [2].
