This seems to be a question where the answer is somewhat based on your opinion/observations of the world.

Explanation:

A caste system is a division of people based on status. Social status, financial status, whatever. Labels people follow in the united states would probably go under "working class," "working poor," "middle class," "high class/rich," and "one percent." In my opinion it is a caste system, and it functions through capitalism.

I have not read To Kill a Mockingbird in a couple years and can't pull up specific examples, but it was based in the 30's(?) and there was a division of class back then too.
