Death or cruel torture is another element that is ever present as someone always has to die or be cruelly or unusually tortured. Gothic fiction pieces of art almost always have an innately evil person, whether it be a regular person who is evil, or a supernatural being such as Dracula in the novel "Dracula" by Bram Stoker.
