Help please? Which graph can be used to find the solution(s) to x2 – 1 = x + 1?

Basically the graphs represent
y=x^2-1 and y=x+1
and where they intersect are the solutions

so just graph each
y=x+1
that has y intercep at y=1
that is 1st graph, 2nd, and 4th graph

now, we got
y=x^2-1
hmm, at x=0, y=-1
so it can't be first or 2nd one
it has to be the 3rd one
the answer is the 3rd one: https://us-static.z-dn.net/files/d6b/8b369670d3f70b5d375515f82d095327.jpg

Answer:

Option 3rd is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

We have been given an equation:

x^2-1=x+1

We can see that the graphical method gives the solution by intersection of two graphs.

So, one graph is of parabola open upwards

And the right hand side is the straight line.

Option 1 and 2 are discarded being open downwards.

And Option 3rd is correct.

Intersecting at (-1,0) and (2,3).

How do you verify this trigonometric identity? cos^2 θcot^2 θ = cot^2 θ - cos^2 θ
sattari [20]

Explanation:

Replace cos^2(θ) with 1-sin^2(θ), and cot(θ) with cos(θ)/sin(θ).

 cos^2(θ)cot^2(θ) = cot^2(θ) - cos^2(θ)

 (1 -sin^2(θ))cot^2(θ) = . . . . . replace cos^2 with 1-sin^2

 cot^2(θ) -sin^2(θ)·cos^2(θ)/sin^2(θ) = . . . . . replace cot with cos/sin

 cot^2(θ) -cos^2(θ) = cot^2(θ) -cos^2(θ) . . . as desired

Does secondhand smoke increase the risk of a low weight birth? A baby is “low birth weight” if it weighs less than 5.5 pounds at

Answer:

H0: p = 0.078

Ha: p ≠ 0.078

Step-by-step explanation:

The researchers say that the rate is about 7.8%, or 0.078 as a decimal. That makes that the null hypothesis because using "is" in math is the same as saying "equals" and the null hypothesis always has the statement of equality in it. The reason there is a not equals to sign in the alternate is for this reason as well. The researchers say it is about that amount, not more or less than that amount. So it makes this a 2 tailed test. If the amount is significantly higher or lower, then we might have to reject the null hypothesis depending on the outcome of the test.
