Maria must be suffering from cystic fibrosis because all the given symptoms are symptoms of this disease. There might be other symptoms that her parents might have missed.

Explanation:

Wheezing, salty skin and low weight gain etc are the most evident symptoms of cystic fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disorder that is inherited in an autosomal recessive manner. The disease mainly affects the lungs but it can also affect the liver, pancreas and kidney.

Sweat test and genetic testing are some of the diagnostic methods of cystic fibrosis. Greasy bowel movement is also a symptom of cystic fibrosis which Maria’s parents might have missed.

In garden peas, tallness (T) is dominant to shortness (t) and axial flowers (A) are dominant to terminal flowers (a). What are t
Delicious77 [7]

Answer:

The correct answer is explained below:

Explanation:

  • According to the question, heterozygous tall, heterozygous axillary plant has the following genotype, TtAa.
  • It produces the following gametes: TA, Ta, tA, ta.
  • The heterozygous tall, terminal plant has the following genotype: Ttaa
  • It produces the following gametes: Ta, ta.
  • Crossing them,

           TA Ta tA ta

Ta TTAa TTaa TtAa Ttaa

(Tall, Axillary) (Tall, Terminal) (Tall, Axillary) (Tall, Terminal)

ta TtAa Ttaa ttAa ttaa

(Tall, Axillary) (Tall, Terminal) (Short, Axillary) (Short, Terminal)

  • The genotypes of the offspring obtained are: TTAa, TTaa, TtAa, Ttaa, ttAa and ttaa respectively.
  • The phenotypes obtained are:
  1. Tall, Axillary = 3.
  2. Tall, Terminal = 3.
  3. Short, Axillary = 1.
  4. Short, Terminal = 1.

Hatshy [7]

Answer:

The double helix is the description of the structure of a DNA molecule. A DNA molecule consists of two strands that wind around each other like a spiral staircase. Each chain has a backbone in which a sugar (deoxyribose) and a phosphate group alternate.

An experiment was done by Gierer and Schramm where they exposed plant tissue to purified RNA from tobacco mosaic virus, and the
cestrela7 [59]

Answer:

See the answer below

Explanation:

A DNase is also known as deoxyribonuclease and it is an enzyme that catalyzes the degradation of deoxyribonucleic acid by cleaving the phosphodiester linkage in their structures. Thus, if the RNA is treated with a DNase before the plants are exposed to it, it will not make any difference. The plants will develop the same types of lesions as if they have been exposed to the mosaic virus.

Unlike DNase, RNase is a ribonuclease, an enzyme that is capable of carrying out catalytic degradation of ribonucleic acids. This means that if the RNA is treated with RNase before the plants are made to be exposed to it, they will not develop the lesions because the RNA would have been degraded by the enzyme.

A protease is an enzyme that degrades the structure of proteins. Treating a RNA with protease will thus have no effect on the structure of the RNA. Exposing the plants to the protease-treated RNA will make no difference. The plants will still come down with the lesions as if they have been exposed to the virus.
