This question is incomplete. Here is the complete question:

What elements should be included in a paragraph that evaluates a writer’s argument? Select three options.

a brief biography of the writer

a summary of the writer's claim

an analysis of the writer's concluding statements

an analysis of the writer's reasons and evidence

a response to the writer's position saying if it is right or wrong

Answer:

The correct answers are:

an analysis of the writer's concluding statements

an analysis of the writer's reasons and evidence

a response to the writer's position saying if it is right or wrong

Explanation:

If we are going to evaluate a writer's argument, his biography would not be useful to us, what happened in his life is not important for the argument he is presenting.

Nor do we need to write a summary of the writer's claim, since that does not provide any new information, it is only a summary.

But we will need an analysis and an response.

Whether we agree with the writer's point of view or not, we must first analyze what he has written, and then give a return of it.

Therefore, the correct answers will be:

  • an analysis of the writer's concluding statements
  • an analysis of the writer's reasons and evidence
  • a response to the writer's position saying if it is right or wrong

How do paragraphs 7-8 contribute to the overall structure of the article?
Shalnov [3]

Answer: D. They reveal that Belgium had false motivations for colonizing Africa.

Possible Answer: A. They reveal the central goal of European colonies in Africa.

Explanation: Paragraph 7 explains how Leopold plans of “abolishing slavery” and “establishing harmony” was all a scam. Leading to paragraph 8 revealing that Leopold was only focused on his personal business venture. D sounds like it’s the correct answer because his motivations were false, but the other European colonies were also focused on growing their power, so A could possibly be the correct answer too.

Read the following passage from "The War Prayer":
Dennis_Churaev [7]

The passage contains the device

B. Polysyndeton

Explanation:

This obscure literary device here is used masterfully to contain the lines of this passage into a single, seemingly rambling sentence that goes on longer than it normally would due to the use of connections that could have been removed easily from here.

The choice of keeping in the connections here shows that the author wanted the lines to have a seeming rambling quality to them as they go on and on without stopping by the devices that could be used here.

How is lady Macbeth a tragic heroine
Lana71 [14]

Lady Macbeth would be a tragic heroine because the reader can see how some of her morals take a turn for the best, despite them having quite the extensive proce to pay. Though it seems she was in control throughout the play, that is not how Shakespeare intended it to be. As you can see, the guilt takes a toll on her, and though her mind may have been in the right place, her actions didn’t seem to portray this, hence her death. She supposedly had the right morals, but her life ended while she was trying to fufill. A lot of people argue that she is not a tragic heroine, but the fact that her morals had supposedly been in the right place and she died tragically would make her a tragic heroine.
