Answer:

1) wood frog - freezes their body in winter

To survive the winter Wood Frogs' bodies freeze solid. They also stop breathing and their heart stops beating. This allows them to survive temperatures as low as -80 degrees Fahrenheit. And in spring, they thaw out and "come back to life.

2) Kangaroo rats survive without ever drinking water.

Kangaroo rats have adapted to survive in the desert without ever taking a sip of water. Instead, they get all the moisture they need from the seeds that they eat. These critters also have incredible hearing and can jump up to nine feet, which helps them avoid predators.

3) Chameleon - blend in with the environment by changing its color to escape from predators

4)Okapi have scent-glands on their feet.

Okapi are strange animals that look like a combination of a giraffe and a zebra. They live in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where it's very hot and predators, such as leopards, are always lurking. To stay alive, okapi have a three key adaptations. First, they have scent-glands on their feet to mark their territory. Second, they have infrasonic calls, which allows them to communicate with their calves without predators hearing their call. Finally, they have 14-18 inch-long tongues, which can be used to wash their eyes and ears.

5)Venus fly trap plant that is adapted for living in soil that doesn't provide enough nutrients.

6) the seaweed is a plant adapted for its underwater environment

Is the following statement true or false? Explain your
Marrrta [24]

Answer:

False.

Explanation:

Cell membrane is made of the lipids and proteins with the attached moieties of carbohydrates. The plasma membrane is the selectively permeable membrane that allows the diffusion of some selected particles only.

The transport along the cell membrane depends on the size and the hydrophobicity of the molecule. The size of oxygen is although higher than magnesium but to its highly hydrophobic nature it can easily pass through the plasma membrane as compared with the magnesium. The oxygen diffuses out faster than magnesium.

Thus, the answer is false.

______ 5. True or False? Agriculture makes up 30 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions.
Hunter-Best [27]

Answer:

5. false 9 percent make up agriculture

6. false the population would be 9.8 billion

7. the current population on earth is 7.7 billion or rounded up is 7 billion

8. 40 percent of earth surface is used for agriculture.

9.The UN Food and Agriculture Organization says one-third of all food is wasted.

10. eating for a healthy planet means eating sustainably. The meaning means what you eat may need to be sustainable because it can be regrown and not be cut off. Also it could mean what you eat wont leave a footprint on the earth.

Is the movement of water along the concentration gradient
Nuetrik [128]

Answer:

- Is the movement of water along the concentration gradient: Osmosis.

- Is the use of energy to move the particles against the concentration gradient: Active transport.

- Is the movement of particles by diffusion without energy: Simple diffusion.

- Is the movement of particles along the concentration gradient: Passive transport.

Explanation:

The mechanisms of cellular transport involve all the processes that the cell carries out to incorporate substances into its interior or send them to the extracellular space, through its semipermeable cell membrane.

- Osmosis

Is a type of transport that consists of the passage of water from a space with a lower concentration of solutes to one with a higher concentration, in order to reach equilibrium, following a concentration gradient.

The concentration gradient is given by the difference in concentration between two substances, which indicates the direction in which molecules, such as water, should move from one place to another.

- Active transport

Unlike passive transport mechanisms, which depend on a concentration gradient that determines the movement of particles, in active transport there are two characteristics that define it:

The passage of substances into the cell against a concentration gradient.

The use of energy to carry out this process.

In this case, the passage of substances through the cell membrane will be according to the requirements of the cell, or when they cannot pass through the membrane.

- Simple diffusion

According to the characteristics of the cell membrane, some substances can pass freely through it while others require special mechanisms. When a molecule is able to pass through the membrane without the use of special mechanisms or energy we speak of simple diffusion.

In a cell membrane, whose composition is by hydrophobic or non-polar lipid molecules, simple diffusion allows the passage of non-polar molecules, gases and alcohol.

- Passive transport

Refers to the mechanism of entry and exit of substances from the cell that does not require the use of energy.

The mechanisms involved in the passive transport of the cell are simple diffusion, osmosis, facilitated diffusion - which requires special conveyors or channels - and ultrafiltration, which depends on hydrostatic pressure. Examples of substances using this mechanism are lipid molecules, water and electrolytes.

What did Charles Darwin discover as a result of his experiments with breeding pigeons?
Veronika [31]
Charles Darwin noticed that among the same species there were variations in traits based upon geographical location. These changes may have evolved from climate differences, predator/prey relationships and food sources. This particular experiment was intended to duplicate natural selection by demonstrating the concepts with artificial selection. The result was that over time, new traits could be bred for. Although there may be more than one correct answer here, the best answer is the first; desirable traits can be selected and bred in offspring.

The growth potential of alternative agricultural practices such as the growing of amaranth grain and the raising of deer, elk, e
Stels [109]

Answer:

The growers have not established an integrated commodity chain

Explanation:

Integration of commodity chain includes merging of different alternative practices of agriculture for the overall growth of the society. It may raising cattle like sheep, lambs, cow or horses, etc. or raising deer, buffalo, emus and elk and also doing various plantation of crops such as wheat, barley, rice, coffee, cotton, etc.

But the farmers have not been able to established the integrated commodity chain because of which the growth potential of the alternative agricultural practices like raising emus or buffalos or growing amaranth grains is limited.
