Which of the following statements about gangs in the 1950s and 1960s is false? Select one: a. The threat of gangs and gang viole
Gala2k [10]

Answer:

B. By the mid 1960s, the gang menace seemed to have peaked.

Explanation:

The statement chosen is incorrect because the the 1960s, the ganga menace did not peak but decreased almost disappearing. There are a couples of factors explaining this decrease: gang-control programs became more effective as police members infiltrated gangs and arrested leaders, also many gang leaders got involved in political and social issues and used their resources to fight against inequality and war, also some gang members were drafted for war, and finally it is also thought that gang members got addicted to heavy drugs and were unable to continue their harmful gang lifestyle.

After some controversy the project for the jefferson memorial received backing from
scoundrel [369]
President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR)

The decision to erect a memorial to Thomas Jefferson was passed by Congress in 1934.  Controversy occurred when the Tidal Basin was chosen in 1937 as the site for the memorial.  The Tidal Basin is a reservoir between the Potomac River and the Washington Channel.  Putting the memorial there required the removal of flowering cherry trees, and there was some objection to that.  There was some controversy also over the design of the memorial itself.  But FDR, who had been the one who had, in 1934, suggested to the Commission of Fine Arts that a memorial to Jefferson be built, approved the pantheon design for the memorial and gave the project permission to proceed.
