Hyppolite is from Haiti and she describes her home as full of people who are polite and concerned. He talks about how when you ask for directions in Haiti, they readily tell you where it is and explain more about the place. When you also talk about your place in Haiti, it is an interesting topic to follow Haitians.

3. How have the colonists been "misrepresented"?
Nonamiya [84]

Many colonists have been angry due to the fact they did now not have self-government. This supposed that they couldn't govern themselves and make their personal legal guidelines. They had to pay excessive taxes to the king. They felt that they have been paying taxes to a central authority where they had no representation.

In short, many colonists believed that as they have been not represented within the remote British parliament, any taxes it imposed on the colonists (such as the Stamp Act and the Townshend Acts) had been unconstitutional, and had been a denial of the colonists' rights as Englishmen.

Many colonists felt that they ought to no longer pay those taxes, because they have been surpassed in England with the aid of Parliament, now not through their own colonial governments. They protested, announcing that these taxes violated their rights as British residents. The colonists began to face up to boycotting, or no longer buying, British items.

Dmitrij [34]

Answer:

The reason why the author mentioned this information was because he/she wanted to acknowledge that Christopher Columbus was in fact not the first person to reach the Americas. The text states that some of the men that sailed with Kankan's Uncle reached the Americas before 1492, which is the year Christopher Columbus supposedly arrived to the Americas. This is why the author decided to mention this information in the text.
